Have kids who love animals? From zoo animals to farm animals, and from the furry to the scaly, we have all the animals you'll need to please your little animal lover. 

Here's where to find animals in Wilmington:

Farms





  • Farm animals such as chickens and ducks are visible during daytime hours.

 

Animals:

Admission: Free

Business Hours: Open Tues-Sat, Closed Sun-Mon

  • Hours: Friday - Sunday: 9 AM - 6 PM
  • Animals: Cows, goats
  • Admission: Free

Nature Centers & Wildlife Refuges






  • Hours: Open dawn to dusk, daily. 
  • Animals: Discover wildlife at their Hawk Watch, Butterfly Habitat, Bird Blind, and Hummingbird Haven, and along their many pet-friendly interpretive trails.
  • Admission: Free for members, Child (age 2+) $3, Adult $5


  • Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 11 AM - 5 PM, Sundays 12 - 4 PM
  • Animals: 
    • Fish & Turtles in the Visitor Center. 
    • Free Thursday Bird Walks are held weekly from 8 - 10 AM.
  • Admission: Free
  • Wheelchair Accessible Trails


  • Hours: Open daily from dusk to dawn. Free parking.
  • Animals: 
    • American Bald Eagles, Wood Ducks, American Beavers, dragonflies, river otters, and Eastern Painted Turtles
  • Admission: Free

Parks


  • Hours: Open daily, 8 a.m. to sunset.
  • Animals: Stop by and say hi to the horses of Wellspring Farm. 


  • Hours: Open daily from dawn to dusk
  • Animals: Home of the New Castle County Mounted Patrol, all visitors to the park will enjoy the beauty and grace of magnificent horses roaming the meadows. Enjoy the serenity of nature as the swans, ducks, and geese glide peacefully on the lake.
