This place checks all of the playing boxes. Preston's Playground sits at the base of the Newark Reservoir, surrounded by a beautiful natural area of William M. Redd, Jr. Park.
At Preston's Playground in Newark, accessibility is the name of the game. Designed for kids of all abilities, this fenced-in playground contains adaptive equipment (a merry-go-round, swings, and monkey bars), a rubber surface instead of mulch, and wide ramps leading up to various platforms.

Plus, indoor bathrooms are steps away from this shaded playground, picnic tables, and benches. If the kids still have energy after exploring the 6,000-square-foot playground, they can explore the 1.8-mile paved trail that leads up and around the reservoir.
Constructed in 2018, the playground is named after Preston Buenaga, a Wilmington teen with mitochondrial disease. After visiting an adaptive playground while vacationing in VA, Preston's mom, Deb Buenaga knew Newark needed one to call its own.
