In partnership with Rabbits 4 Good, the historic Greenbank Mills & Phillips Farm is now home to the USDA "People's Garden @ The Mill."
This groundbreaking project marks the first urban garden in Wilmington, Delaware, to receive the prestigious People's Garden designation from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA People's Garden initiative launched in 2009 and was named in honor of Abraham Lincoln, celebrates the creation of the USDA, known as the "People’s Department."
People's Gardens are community-focused spaces that produce local food, practice sustainability, and foster community connections. They take various forms, including food-producing gardens, wildlife habitats, conservation projects, and educational spaces.
Rabbits 4 Good and Greenbank Mills & Phillips Farm are committed to using sustainable practices, educating the public about resilient local food systems, and donating produce to local communities. This project will enhance the area's natural beauty and serve as a valuable educational resource and community hub.
This beacon of education and wildlife conservation will feature an education garden and a charming bunny garden, community composting, and the renovation of the 9-acre property into pollinator and wildlife-certified habitats.Rabbits 4 Good promotes sustainable agriculture, animal welfare, and community engagement through educational initiatives and partnerships.
