When it comes to gifting, I am always on “team fun experiences" instead of a toy that may or may not be a hit (preschoolers, IYKYK). Whenever I have painted nails, my 4-year-old wants the same thing. So, when I discovered that JAMS Club Kid Spa offered a spa package for a kid and their grown-up, it was time for a happy dance.
Without revealing too many details, we headed to Newport for an afternoon of relaxing, pampering, giggles, and spa-like fun. Don't be fooled by the Spa's so-so corporate office exterior. Once inside, you find yourself in a welcoming wonderland of fuzzy pink rugs, inspiring affirmations, bright blue and pink florals, glamorous makeup stations, twinkling rainbow lights, and the warmest greeting from Venus, JAMS’ founder.
The first thing we (meaning, my daughter) did was pick out our super soft robes and headbands to rock during our “before” photos. Then, it was time for our first “treatment” of mini-facials. Their spa services are for entertainment purposes only and are not performed by licensed cosmetologists. They are unable to remove gel polish and do not use clippers or sharp objects during services.
Next, it was time to pamper our little piggies. JAMS Club Kid Spa has thought of everything; after picking out polish, we were offered a selection of fidget toys, activity books, and massagers to entertain us during our pedicures and foot soak. After our mini-manicures, it was time for makeup, and Ava had a blast assisting with my makeup application. Our appointment ended with a glam photoshoot and an impromptu Frozen dance party. As soon as we got back home, Venus thanked us with a lovely photo album for the day - it was a rare treat to be in front of the camera instead of behind!
During our afternoon at JAMS Club Kid Spa, we had the immaculate spa all to ourselves, not once feeling rushed. Venus was so kind and wonderful and her perky personality kept up with Ava's endless energy. We were free to touch everything, explore all of the kid-friendly nooks and crannies, and could dance anywhere. Since I didn't have to mutter "Don't touch" or "Stay here", it was a lovely, relaxing atmosphere.
She and her daughter were so kind and patient the entire time. They didn't even bat an eye while we (not me) requested a rainbow of polish colors. Venus' daughters -Jada, Aniyah, and Mia- were her inspiration behind the spa's namesake. Plus, thanks to the trio, she had plenty of practice with painting nails, applying makeup, and playing dress-up.
